Fork, possibly Frankenthal, 18th Century

 

The moulded porcelain pistol haft is painted with European floral sprays in pink, red, purple, yellow and green enamel, the panels outlined with traces of gilding. The steel fork has three tines on a baluster stem, fitted with a scalloped ferrule.

Provenance: An English Private Collection.

Condition: No damage or restoration, just some sanding from manufacture, and light wear from use. The steel is tarnished, as is the ferrule.
