Delftware Tile, Liverpool, c.1750

This English tin-glazed earthenware tile is painted in blue with an attractive European harbour scene, including a tall ship, jetty and pully or beacon, all contained within a dotted, octagonal border.

Condition: Good - just typical losses to the edges and corners. There remains some cement at bottom left, from when it would have probably formed part of a tiled fire surround, particularly as the edges are bevelled for tiling.

Dimensions: 12.7 cm across
