Fob Seal, Derby, c.1770


This charming fob seal is modelled as Harlequin standing on a green mound. He is dressed in red, yellow, black, and gold motley attire, with a domino mask. His yellow hat is fitted with a gilt metal ring attachment, and a gold line is painted around the base.

Tiny fob seals such as this, often richly decorated and mounted in gold, were made for wealthy aristocrats to give as gifts and love tokens.

Condition: Excellent - no damage or restoration.

Dimensions: Height 2.7 cm
