Muffin Dish and Cover, Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester, c.1815

This muffin dish with its domed cover, would once have been an essential component of a large breakfast service. The rich gilding, including to the acorn knop, and the puce camaïeu flower painting were especially popular with artists during the Barr, Flight and Barr, and Flight, Barr and Barr periods. The flowers may represent an early type of geranium, cyclamen or nasturtium.

The stand bears the impressed mark FBB below a crown.

Condition: The cover and stand are in excellent condition, with no damage or restoration. The puce monochrome flower painting and gilt decoration is in superb order, with very little wear. No chips, cracks or restoration.

Dimensions: Diameter of stand 21.3 cm

Flight and Barr Worcester Porcelain, 1783-1840, Henry Sandon (Antique Collectors' Club, 1999).
