Cut-glass Scent Flask, French, c.1860

A quality French cut-glass flacon of flattened tear-shape, and having a good weight. The lid and mount are engraved with alternate bands of scrolls and foliage.

Indistinct marks to the silver-gilt mount and hinged lid.

Condition: Surface wear to the glass, consistent with age and use. One or two minute abbrasions to the edge, but really very minor, and the lid has a couple of impressions. The giding has largely worn away from the mount and lid. The hinge no longer works, although the lid sits securely in place and can be easily removed and replaced whenever desired.

Dimensions: Length (including cap) 12 cm
