Coffee Cup with wishbone handle, Worcester, soft paste porcelain, c.1765

This charming bell-shaped coffee cup is decorated in enamel and gilt with a Compagnie des Indes pattern, being loosely based on the stylised flower decoration found on contemporary famille rose Chinese export wares. The wishbone handle form is derived from the Tau or T-shape of earlier Meissen wares.

It is most unusual to see a Worcester coffee cup of this form decorated in the Compagnie des Indes style.

Condition: Excellent - no damage or restoration.

Dimensions: Height (to top of handle) 6.3 cm
