A Bow blanc de chine Knife, circa 1755
Of pistol-grip shape, the moulded blanc de chine decoration of this haft takes the form of festoons suspended from rococo C-scrolls. A band of acanthus leaves runs around the tapering haft, just above the scalloped silver ferrule. Fitted with a curved steel blade.
Provenance: The Darblay Collection, Paris; an English Private Collection.
Condition: Cracked and restuck. No other damage or restoration.
