A Bristol powdered manganese delftware Tile, circa 1750

Depicted all in blue and reserved on a powdered manganese ground is a central roundel painted with a shepherd and his flock within a landscape. Each corner of the tile is decorated with a floral motif.

A tile at the V&A Museum, London (Circ.954-1924) similarly decorated with a manganese ground and a roundel edged with semicircles, is attributed to Bristol.

Condition: Typical losses to the edges and surface blemishes, and traces of glaze on the reverse. No other damage and no restoration.
