A Liverpool Saucer, circa 1785

This saucer is painted over the glaze in enamel colours with a version of the Tudor Rose pattern.

This example shares similarities with that of the HP group of wares. Such wares are occasionally marked in underglaze blue with an HP, however this group is now thought to be a subset of Seth Pennington’s output. The reason for the HP mark remains a mystery.

Unmarked.

Condition: Good – no damage or restoration at all, just typical potting flaws, roughness to the rim and a little wear.

Dimensions: Diameter 13 cm
