A Regency Creamer, John Rose, Coalport, bone china, circa 1820

This London-shape creamer with spur handle is attractively decorated with enamel flowers and gilt decoration. A wide band of simple pink flowers, some open and some in bud, and trailing gilt foliage is bordered by two gilt lines. A gilt line surrounds the foot and is also applied to the top of the handle.

Pattern number 866 in red.

The profile of the creamer is identical to that used by John Rose at Coalport. See Berthoud (p.99, pl.592).

Condition: No damage, restoration or re-gilding. The decoration is in excellent order, with only light wear to the gilding. From manufacture, there is a typical minor clay tear to part of the mould seam beneath the pouring lip.

Dimensions: Length 14.6 cm
