An early New Hall Coffee Cup, pattern 122, circa 1787-95
This early New Hall reeded coffee cup is decorated with pattern 122, comprising a puce husk chain through an undulating leafy line. The internal border consists of a puce husk chain between thin iron-red lines, and a scalloped black line with blue dots. The handle is picked out with a puce design of leaves and dots.
Provenance: The Huxley-Robinson Collection.
Dimensions: Height 6 cm.
Condition: No chips, cracks or restoration. From manufacture, there are a few tiny patches of kiln dust trapped in the glaze, typical of this early period of production.
