A Knife and Fork with agate hafts, circa 1700
Of large size, this agate knife and fork have pistol-shaped hafts with engraved decoration, silver scalloped ferrules and steel fittings. The knife blade is of scimitar form and the fork has two tines. This set is of a good weight and colour, with some flecks of brown.
Provenance: An English Private Collection.
Condition: Good – the knife haft having a small chip close to the engraved, rounded end. There are a couple of expected ‘dimples’ to the silver ferrules. Steel fittings are good, the blade is very sharp.
