Around 1745, the St. James’s, London, jeweller Charles Gouyn helped Nicholas Sprimont to establish the Chelsea Porcelain Factory. By 1748, Gouyn was manufacturing his own porcelain in competition with Chelsea. His name is now synonymous with the Girl-in-a-Swing luxury ‘toys’ and figures he produced between 1749 and 1759.
