A Chinese Teapot and Cover, Qianlong, circa 1750
This globular Chinese export teapot and cover is richly decorated with famille rose enamel and gilt stylised flowers and winged insects. The pointed knop is picked out with gilding.
Condition: There is a stable hairline through the handle, a tiny frit to the tip of the spout, and a small loss to the top of the knop. There is some wear to the enamel and gilt decoration from use. Typical manufacturing flaws include firing cracks / clay tears, pinholes and blisters. No restoration.
