An ironstone Plate, probably Staffordshire, circa 1820

This ironstone plate is printed in underglaze blue with a Chinese garden scene that includes a ‘swastika’ fence, bamboo, a large peony and a table. The border is comprised of a trellis and stylised flower head design. Some areas of the printed outline decoration are handpainted with a blue wash. 

Unmarked.

Condition: Very Good – no damage or restoration, just some orange speckling and a pinhole on the underside from manufacture.
