A Lowestoft Child’s Saucer, circa 1775
Of a delightfully small size, this Lowestoft child’s saucer is printed in underglaze blue with a version of the popular Worcester Fence pattern.
Open crescent mark.
Condition: No damage or restoration. From manufacture there are several potting, firing and glazing anomalies including three spur or stilt marks on the rim, characteristic of Lowestoft; a small, fully-glazed slither from the foot rim; a clay tear to the underside of the rim, and also a small patch of crazed pooled glaze.
Dimensions: Diameter 10.8 cm
