A pearlware Jug, probably Staffordshire, circa 1810
This charming pearlware pottery jug is painted with stylised rose sprays and sprigs between bands of engine-turned or rouletted decoration. Beneath the spout is a stylised yellow flower outlined with blue enamel. The spout and handle are decorated with puce dots and a foliate design, and the neck is decorated with a puce border above a green band.
Condition: There is some crazing and misfiring / sanding to the pearl glaze, along with wear and losses to areas of the enamel decoration. There are a couple of very small flakes to the rim and the foot rim. No cracks or restoration.
