A rare Worcester moulded Stand, probably for a Broth Bowl, circa 1758-60
Moulded with spiral wreathing within an ozier basketweave border and decorated with floral sprays and a bouquet. The central well is finely painted with a gourd and pink roses depicted in a rural setting. The rim is enamelled with a chocolate line.
Factory decoration incorporating vegetables is exceptionally rare on Worcester porcelain. Also, the broth bowl or ecuelle form is rare in English porcelain and this piece may have been intended for export to Europe as both Meissen and Chantilly produced this shape.
Unmarked.
Condition: Good – just light surface wear to to the chocolate line rim and enamels, and tiny firing flaws. No restoration.
