A Plate, John & Richard Riley, Burslem, Staffordshire, circa 1820
This Riley earthenware dinner plate is printed in a bright blue version of the well-known Willow pattern.
The printed underglaze blue belt-type mark reads ‘RILEY’S Semi China’.
Condition: Very Good – no chips, cracks or restoration. The print is clear and well-applied. The glaze is finely crazed, typical of early printed earthenwares, and there are some tiny impurities and pinholes in the surface, caused in the manufacture.
There are three, three-pointed stilt marks equally spaced on the underside edge.
Dimensions: Diameter 25 cm
