A Saint-Cloud Trembleuse Saucer, circa 1720-40
This Saint-Cloud trembleuse saucer, with its gadrooned moulding and underglaze blue painted Bérainesque ornament, mirrors the ornate Baroque gold and silver creations of artisans working in precious metals in Europe during the late Seventeenth and early Eighteenth Centuries. The underside rim and that of the well are both painted with a dentil border, and the edge of the foot rim is painted with two narrow blue bands.
StCT mark to the base in underglaze blue.
Provenance: An English Private Collection.
Condition: No chips, cracks or restoration.
