A salt-glazed stoneware Jelly Mould, English, 19th century
The interior of this salt-glazed stoneware jelly mould is ribbed. The brown glaze is a rich, warm hue, and the unglazed base is impressed with the numeral 2.
In addition to being a wonderfully usable item, it looks great as part of a display of antique kitchenalia.
Condition: Good – no damage or restoration, just a few tiny glaze rubs to the moulded high points. From manufacture, there are expected impurities and minor anomalies, such as small impressions made in the leather-hard clay, minute pieces of grit expelled during firing, and glaze crawl.
Dimensions: Height 5.6 cm; Diameter 10 cm
