A small Rococo Revival porcelain Basket, English, circa 1830
This delightfully small Rococo Revival porcelain basket rests on four pierced scrolling feet. The corners are moulded with grapes and vine leaves picked out in gilt. The centre of the dish is painted with a mountainous lakeside landscape scene framed by gilt C-scrolls and surrounded by a vermicular deep blue and gilt border.
Condition: It is lacking its handle and so now functions as a tiny tray. There is good restoration to the areas on the edge above and below the landscape painting, where the porcelain handle was attached. There are no cracks and only a few minute fleabites to the underside edge.
Dimensions: Length 11 cm; Width 8.2 cm; Height 2.5 cm
