A large Worcester Caudle or Chocolate Cup, circa 1768

This large Worcester fluted caudle or chocolate cup was decorated in the Giles studio with colourful enamel European flower sprays and sprigs, entwined around a gilt band. The interior base is painted with a large flower spray. The shaped rim is decorated with a gilt dentil design. The moulded scroll handles are picked out with graduated gilt dots.

Condition: There is minor wear to the gilt dentil rim. A tiny clay tear from firing was disguised by the decorator with a gilt leaf. A tiny spot of turquoise enamel was flicked into the interior by the decorator. No damage or restoration.

Dimensions: Height 8 cm
