A Worcester Coffee Cup, circa 1775
This neatly potted coffee cup is decorated in enamel and gilt with a Compagnie des Indes pattern, being loosely based on the stylised flower decoration found on contemporary famille rose Chinese export wares. The border is composed of feathery scrolls and stylised demi-flower heads.
Condition: No cracks or restoration. The enamel decoration is in excellent order. The gilt line rim has one or two minute frits and some wear from use. There is a tiny firing flaw inside the foot rim and just beneath the rim, which show as a black speck.
Dimensions: Height 6.5 cm
