A Worcester Coffee Cup and Saucer, circa 1760

This Worcester coffee cup and saucer are painted in the Chinese idiom with a pattern of large, intricately trailing flowers, Daoist sacred scrolls, and flying insects. The cup has a grooved handle and both pieces are neatly potted.

The design is variously known as the Honeysuckle or Hibiscus pattern.

Unmarked.

Condition: Very good – no cracks or restoration, just a small glazed factory flaw inside the foot rim of the cup, and a very small abrasion to the foot rim of the saucer. The painted decoration is in good order, with only very slight wear in places.

Dimensions: Saucer – Diameter 11.2 cm; Cup – Height 6.3 cm
